Show Me Your Goblin Tour Kicked off at Goldfield’s in Roseville and You Should Be Green With Envy!

Nekrogoblikon at Goldfield ‘s in Roseville, CA 5.8.25

May 12, 2025 - Last Thursday night, I was excited to head over to the Goldfield Trading Post in Roseville, California to see the first show of the “Show Me Your Goblin Tour” with Nekrogoblikcon. Not only do I love Nekrogoblikon as one of the melodic death metal bands you should be listening to, but they received support from the tech death and thrash metal band, Revocation. Other support came from Brat and Ov Sulfur.

I did not make it to the venue in time to see Brat, but I did get to witness Las Vegas’ own Ov Sulfur take the stage.  Singer Ricky Hoover has his own following and it is clear to see why with his clean vocals and passionate performance. Ov Sulfur’s live show was hot and heavy and their sound reminded me of a bit of Chelsea Grin and Shadow of Intent in their songs. I will have to listen to more of Ov Sulfur before rendering my official opinion as an opinionated person.

Then came the band that I personally showed up for - Boston's iconic deathcore band, Revocation. David Davidson’s performance gets better every time I see this band perform live. I'm not going to lie: it feels wrong to not have Revocation headline but somehow they made it work. I have been a fan of theirs for years. But this year hits a bit different. With the February, 2025 release of "Confines of Infinity" video and single (which features guest vocals by Travis Ryan of Cattle Decapitation), you are hearing harder, sludgier, more gritty Revocation. The band's live performance is hard, energetic, and interactive. The sweat equity this band has put in definitely shows. It will be difficult to miss the 2025 version of Revocation cuz they will be everywhere. Davidson's vocals are paired by a group of multi-talented band members Ash Pearson on drums, Harry Lannon on guitar (and backup vocals), and Alex Weber on Bass.

Finally it was time to see the band of the hour, Nekrogoblikon. Hailing from Los Angeles, California, melodic death metal band Nekrogoblikon is a hodgepodge of feelings. The kitchiness of John Goiblikon (voted employee of the month at a sales and marketing firm) is a goblin of all trades. Lead vocals Dickie Allen pairs his harsh vocals with Mr. Goblikon's clean(ish) sounds in such a way that "Goblin Metal" - a grotesquely wonderous amalgamation of death and power metal - does not seem to be going away.  The band also includes guitarists Alex "Goldberg" Alereza and Joe "Diamond" Neslon, Aaron "Raptor" Minich on keyboard, and drummer Eric W. Brown, all very accomplished musicians in their own right.
